What did a celebration sound like in the Middle Ages? Which instruments accompanied the dancing? And how did people dance?

A workshop for children, introducing them to medieval music through listening and movement. Matteo Nardella and the musicians of De Vulgari Ensemble will guide them as they discover the instruments, rhythms, melodies and dances of a distant past.

Children will have the opportunity to see the instruments up close, explore different rhythms and sounds, experiment with music and get swept up in the beat. It will be an afternoon of movement, listening and fun, shared with the musicians — and a chance to discover that medieval music is not something distant or difficult at all. Even today, it can make you want to tap your feet, follow a melody and… start dancing!
