Church of Santa Bona, Treviso - Organ by Franz Zanin (1988)

Renowned for its elegant sound and remarkable tonal richness, the organ built by Franz Zanin of Camino al Tagliamento (UD) in 1988 is a true masterpiece of modern organ building. It is one of the first instruments in Treviso constructed according to strict philological principles, inspired by the models of German Baroque organ building, particularly the work of Gottfried Silbermann (1683–1753), one of the leading organ builders of the Baroque era. These characteristics make the organ especially well-suited for the performance of German Baroque repertoire, and in particular, the works of Johann Sebastian Bach.

A testament to exceptional craftsmanship, the instrument was built using traditional techniques and materials faithful to the historic organ-building tradition. While housed in an Italian-style wooden case, its console, tonal layout, and sound characteristics reflect the conventions of German organ design.

The organ is located on a wooden gallery above the entrance. The facade features 25 pipes of the 8’ Principal stop (starting from C1), arranged in a central peak with lateral wings, aligned mouths, and mitred upper lips.

The console is of the window type, with mechanical action.

It has two manuals of 58 keys each (C1–A5), with diatonic keys covered in ebony and chromatic keys in bone. The straight, parallel oak pedalboard has 30 keys (C1–F3). Stops are operated via pull knobs located on two columns flanking the manuals. The tuning is in unequal temperament.
